Labour Day Holiday + Updates.

Warning: Picture Intensive Post.
Being the 1st of May, it's Labour Day, also called International Workers' Day. For most, it's a public holiday, where we're able to take a break from the constant struggles of life, and maybe relax or go out and have some fun. As for those who doesn't.... well hope you'll get an off from work soon too. There's some people out there who says that Labour Day is of importance, to remember those who has fought for worker's rights, to hold demonstrations to fight for even more rights etc. To me, I'm just happy for a holiday (yay no camp!).

It is a holiday (or was a holiday, at least for those in my timezone), go out for a ride and enjoy or something. Don't just stay home and slack your life away. At least do something constructive even if you stay homebound.

So.... what was I up to on a day when there's nothing to do? Remember my post on my bicycle? Well, I used this day to do more work on the bicycle: taking it apart even more, trying to strip/sand off the paint to make the surface smooth, cleaning up the gears, removing the rust, breaking the gear's chain, scratching head on how to put them all back eventually etc. Right now, all I'm hoping for is to get the bike up and running before 18th May, so I can cycle around Sentosa (going for 3D2N, family outing), and also for some Runway cycling event on 25th May. My safest bet I'll say, I'll need about 3-5 more days to finish up the bicycle, including repainting, deco etc.

Before work.After work.

Besides the work done on the bicycle, I also visited a lesser known park (or at least to my knowledge) in SG, Sembawang Park. The location is abit far-off the main roads, but to my surprised there's alot of people at this park (or maybe because it's a PUBLIC holiday). It also has a nice view of the greenery of our neighbour, Malaysia, a far contrast from the concrete jungle here.

Sembawang Park.
People fishing off the jetty.More fishing using some kind of net structure. The nets in question. Taking a look around, it seems that fishing is now no longer a retiree's sport, I spotted alot more youngsters. Some huge container? ship. If not wrong it is a shipyard there. An olden colonial building, being used as a restaurant today.Alot more people than I expected at this beach. You'll not find me in the water here though as it's quite dirty. I don't understand how they can stand it.
It's also a nice place to have a family outing, having a BBQ or picnic.
Lots of space to let the little rascals run wild.
This is a bottle tree (Brachychiton rupestris). It's really huge! By the way, that's my sister and her husband with their baby girl Mikaela in the photo.
Due to the escape of Mas Selamat, the police now "guards" areas of thick vegetation in case he's still hiding in there. Spotted a few of these around the park/forest edge area. I really pity them.Even the coast guards are watching the waters bordering Singapore and Malaysia. This boat was going up and down the coast.

On another note, being the 1st of May, I had a reminder from Gordon (well after reading his post) , that today also marks the Anniversary of the Crackdown on anime fans by Odex. Let us now have a moment of silence to honor those who had fallen to this outrage......................... done. Ever since their "defeat", we had not heard anything from them, and hopefully we'll never ever see them again.

Still waiting to take some photos with my dear Nendoroid Miku (who is currently placed next to my keyboard so I can play with her anytime).

Once again, to mark the passing of a day with so many "events" (we also had the Day of Ascension for the Christians and Catholics today, in which I too had to attend church, and yes I'm Catholic), let us now enjoy a nice video clip of Aya Kiguchi 木口亜矢, and yes I'm trying to melt everyone in the already very very hot weather here. Enjoy and Signing out.

calv: but I'm sure you're have other holidays we don't ><.

squee: for crabs? I was thinking prawns lol, but it does make sense too since crabs always at the bottom. According to my dad who does got there once a while, there wasn't those police "posts" before, so I had assumed was mainly for Mas Selamat. Maybe also they killing two birds with one stone with this arrangement.
